Forensic Nurse Examiners

Full time on call – 2 long days, 2 nights and 4 off (7-7 shifts)

£100 per shift, with £150 per call out

Callouts will be to the SARCs in Gloucester and Swindon


Magnetic is working with a leading provider of healthcare services including GP Practices, urgent care services and forensic medicine. An experienced registered nurse with relevant experience is sought for a sensitive and challenging role as a Forensic Nurse Examiner. RGNs / Sexual Health Nurses with experience in sexual health either in a GUM clinic, GP Practice, emergency services, prison or hospital setting are especially welcome to apply. Full training will be given if it is an area you’d like to try.


The roles are based from home on an on call basis, some days you may not have any call outs


The Registered Nurse / Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner will provide a service to the police with the main responsibilities being:


  • Examining adult complainants of sexual assault. This may include victims of domestic violence who have been sexually assaulted
  • Take forensic samples
  • Document and interpret any injuries found during examination including body mapping, colposcopic evidence and photographs
  • Examination of other victims of neglect or physical or sexual abuse when trained and competent to do so.
  • Accurately document all findings during a consultation
  • Give evidence in court if necessary


Person specification


  • Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with a minimum of 4 years post-registration experience
  • Clear and valid pin
  • Must be competent in Venepuncture, or willing to obtain this themselves before starting.
  • Nursing experience must be relevant to this role, particularly of interest are prison nurses, A+E, Sexual Health Nurses etc
  • Female nurses are preferred due to the nature of the role, the vast majority of patients being female.
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship, and have lived here for a minimum of 3 years consecutively, in order to go through police vetting.
